Adelaide: Queen of Cities

What’s better to do on a cold night than drive up to Windy Point and view Adelaide, the Queen of Cities, in all its night-time glory?

And after that, there’s nothing better than hot waffles and soy icecream from Eggless, or tea in a cute sakura pot or hot apple caramel cake with soy icecream.

After strawberry picking we were hungry so we went to a new vegetarian restaurant in Adelaide called Meesu. We sampled quite a few dishes, all reasonably priced. Perhaps it was better than vegetarian delight in that they served rice and salad as part of meals, rather than separate. There was good variety and Benno enjoyed the mock meats. The sauces were tasty too, also perhaps some dishes were a little lacking (like the salt and pepper tofu which were a little bland and the jap. curry which was mostly cabbage and not at all like jap. curry apart from the sauce).

Moon Lantern Festival & Quiz Night

Judging by the difficulty in finding a park, this year’s moon lantern festival was a hit. There were even some vegan asian dishes on sale.

We checked out the lanterns and watched some drumming and fireworks. A couple of days later we ate red-bean moon cakes from Zenhouse.

Our recent quiz night was also a success. We filled the hall with tables and gave away heaps of prizes. M&M bid on these paintings of sakura on our behalf and did a fantastic job in winning the auction for us (since we were the auctioneers we couldn’t bid for ourselves). Let’s hope this year’s Vegan Festival is also a huge success.

Holidays have been lovely so far, with great weather and lots of garden visitors to keep me company while I weed all of our gardens beds that have overgrown in our time away. Say “hello” to Mr stick insect.

Eating like Kings and Queens

M & M took us out to lunch on Saturday at Bliss Organic Cafe where we feasted like kings and queens. We ordered a main each, but cut it into four and shared it around so we each got to try a bit of every main. Then afterwards we stuffed ourselves with banana cake, mocha joy cake and shakes. Yum!
