One week until handover

28 07 2015

There have been a flurry of trades at the house over the past week; completing the tiling, plumbing fixtures, installing the hot water service, putting down the floors and skirtings… The week leading up to handover has been quiet though – no one around apart from professional cleaners booked in for the day before handover. Our co-project manager did spend an hour walking through the site making a list of all the little things they needed to address like door stops, siliconing gaps between floorings.

Final coat render

14 06 2015

Third and final coat render on the inside took place in about 2 days, after about 3 days of plastering to patch in the windows and complete the square shapes around windows and tops of walls.

Bathroom tiling also took place around the renderers.

Next week is going to be a busy week.

Pre-third coat rendering

8 06 2015

The front door is in, as is the kitchen door with the 180 degree hinges.

The shoebox/entry portico is pretty much done, with the Danpalon window panel to one side of the door.

The bathrooms have been prepped for tiling with a blue waterproof base.

Richard and Scott have spent a few days patching in the windows and completing the window and wall shapes before third coat render goes on.

Colour selections

30 05 2015

This week we had a meeting to confirm the kitchen cupboard layout/measurements/drawer inserts/handle types. The highlight of the week was an appointment with Lauren the Laminex lady who helped us select all the colours for the cupboards etc.

Not many more decisions to go now…

Shoe box and cladding

19 05 2015

Earlier the driveway was all dug up for the plumbing out to stormwater, and new road base brought in to lay down on the driveway so it’s not a boggy mess (we had about 40 ml of rain over the last couple of days).

‘Ironstone’ colorbond cladding has started to appear along the top section of wall above the bales, and on the back of the cupboard spaces in the living area.

The shoe box has also been framed up, roof on and two sides up (the other side will be made of a door and Danpalon panel for light).

Lock up

11 05 2015

The windows are all in, and the big sliding doors are coming Tuesday so we are just about at lock up. Plus the internal insulation is in, the ceilings are up and most of the internal wall gyprocking is done. It looks like a real house. Paul says the house will look small with walls in, but look big again when furniture goes in. I think it looks big now.
