Second Coat Render
Over three long days (with 6 people working per day), the second coat of render was applied and most of the walls made smooth and the window reveals square.

First Coat Render
With the help of a spray pump and some trusty helpers, the first coat of render went on in about one and a half days. The recipe was about 40 shovels of red maslin plasterer’s sand, 2 20kg bags of hydrated lime and half a bag of cement.

First fix plumbing
First fix electrical started just before we began putting the walls up, and is still continuing. The wall raising weekend part 1
Our trusty and hard working volunteers worked like bust bees today to get most of the front third of the house wall up to the 6th course of bales, compressed and straightened. That means the main and second bedrooms have straw bale walls! We’re making good progress!

Electrical first fix and other bits and pieces occured on site this week while we took a day to learn from the expert how to build straw bale walls.
